Ingredients
- 1 cup split green gram (moong dal)
- 1/2 cup idli rava or semolina
- 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast (optional, but recommended for fermentation)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ghee or oil
- Water, as needed
- Chopped fresh coriander, for garnish (optional)
Method
- Rinse the moong dal and soak it in water for at least 4 hours. Drain and grind it into a smooth batter using a blender or grinder. Add a little water if necessary to achieve the right consistency.
- In a separate bowl, mix the idli rava with water to form a thick batter. Let it rest for about 30 minutes to allow the rava to soften.
