- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 cup fresh or frozen corn kernels
- Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for serving (optional)
Method
- Rinse the basmati rice in a fine mesh sieve until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in 2 cups of water for about 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat the ghee or oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and coriander seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent and slightly golden.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the garam masala powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Add the soaked and drained rice to the saucepan and stir gently to coat the rice with the spice mixture.

- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.
