Ingredients:
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup spring onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup gram flour (chickpea flour)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water
- Vegetable oil for frying
Method:
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped onion, spring onions, gram flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garam masala powder, and cumin seeds.
- Mix well until the onions are evenly coated with the flour mixture.
- Add the lemon juice and water to the bowl and mix until a thick batter forms.
- Heat enough vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Using a spoon, drop small portions of the batter into the hot oil, about the size of a small lemon.
- Fry the fritters until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Drain the fritters on paper towels and serve hot with your favourite chutney or raita.
