Ingredients
- 1 cup split green gram (moong dal)
- 1 cup split black gram (urad dal)
- 1 cup rice
- 1/2 cup grated ginger
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste

Method
- Rinse the moong dal, urad dal, and rice together until the water runs clear. Soak them in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked mixture and blend it into a coarse paste using a blender or food processor. Add a little water if necessary to achieve the right consistency.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the blended paste, grated ginger, chopped green chilies, onion, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil in a small pan and add it to the mixture. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into small cylindrical or oval shapes. You can also shape them into small balls if preferred.
- Place the shaped pithas in a steamer or a large pot with a steamer basket. Steam them for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and firm to the touch.
- Once cooked, remove the pithas from the steamer and serve hot with your choice of chutneys, pickles, or vegetables.
